Process definition is a new field, and there is not much literature available on the subject. It would have been invaluable to have had an expert explain process definition and instruct us on representing our process at the beginning of the study. Due to funding problems, we were not able to obtain help from MVP-L and APPL/A experts until four months into the study. Our productivity increased tremendously after a three day consultation with these experts. Process experts were not as necessary in the second phase, because we had gained considerable process definition experience in phase one.
