We expect that an organization can realize greater returns from using process definition over a long period, rather than on a single project. After the use of process definition on several projects, the organization will have established a library of definitions that can be reused without much effort. We encountered stumbling blocks in the first phase of the study that would not have occurred had we written process definitions previously, namely starting low on the learning curve and having no library of definitions to draw from. In phases two and three these stumbling blocks were eliminated due to our previous experience and some reuse of definitions. We feel that reuse is essential to make process definition technology practical for other than experimental use.
