Inspection Roles

Moderator
The moderator has the responsibility of organizing and conducting the inspection session. It is the moderator's task to keep the reviewers on task and insure that personal feuds are avoided. The moderator must keep the reviewers on task, reminding them as needed that the purpose of the activity is to find problems with the SRD as presented.

Author
The author discusses the nature of the problem addressed in the SRD. The author should paraphrase as much as possible what and how he/she understands the nature of the problem and the suggested requirements derived during the requirements analysis.

Reviewer
The reviewer reads the SRD. The reviewers look for ambiguities, omissions, and errors in all portions of the SRD.

Recorder
The recorder captures the defects found and notes precisely where the defect is and its apparent nature. The recorder lists misunderstandings apparent from the discussion of requirements between the author and reviewers. The recorder provides the author with a copy of the collected defects.
